Eva Chopra and Travis Smith join growing Bend architecture firm

BEND, ORE. (August 6, 2012) –Ambient Architecture, LLC, has recently added two positions, hiring Eva Chopra and Travis Smith as design professionals.

“To meet the needs of our clientele, our three partners looked for additional support staff with excellent technical skills and a desire to learn and grow with our company,” said Ascent Principal/Architect Rachel Stemach. “We reviewed more than 50 resumes from throughout the country, and both Eva and Travis stood out as promising team members who aligned with our core values and had experience in building information modeling (BIM, 3-D imaging).”

Eva Chopra joins Ambient with seven years of architectural–, textile– and interior-design experience. Previously, she worked on both custom-residential and commercial projects in southern California.

Chopra earned a master’s of architecture from the University of California, Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design and studied at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. She received a bachelor’s of fine arts from Syracuse University with a major in surface pattern design and a minor in fibers and textiles, graduating Cum Laude.

“We were impressed by the variety of skills Eva acquired working for architecture and design firms in Los Angeles, as well as her textiles and interiors experience,” said Stemach. “Also, positive collaboration with our clients, consultants and community is extremely important to Ambient, and Eva’s outgoing and personable manner makes us confident she’s a great addition to our team.”

Originally from Missouri, Travis Smith is a 2012 graduate of Montana State University where he earned a master’s of architecture and a bachelor’s of arts in environmental design. He brings with him an extensive portfolio showcasing up-to-date 3-D BIM skills, as well as an enthusiasm for sustainable design and green building practices. Prior to joining Ambient, Smith worked as a river guide in Bozeman, Mont.

“The partners were impressed with Travis’ portfolio, including hands-on work for Hatchfest and volunteer work he did to help design a community center in his hometown,” Stemach said. “He’s also excited about architecture and is starting his career with a passion and understanding of the field.”
