500 Greenwood: A mid-town Bend Façade Remodel
Bend, Oregon

completed 2016
5,000 sq ft
Project Description
After the Humane Society of Central Oregon Thrift Store moved out of this Mid-Town Bend location, and the building’s new owner struggled to find tenants, our team got involved to help update the building. The overall finished look is a contemporary redesign of the building’s south façade along Greenwood. One specific challenge arose during the project: Removal of rocks attached to a concrete block wall, which pulled off parts of the concrete. Our team didn’t miss a beat and worked with the contractor to quickly find creative ways to fix the structural integrity of the block wall. Throughout the project, we found cost-effective designs and materials to give the building an updated look while staying within the client’s budget. Cost-saving solutions included using a low-maintenance cement-board siding and retaining the existing roof overhangs. Based on the remodel’s progress, a tenant was secured for the space even before the work was complete.
