Tetherow Custom Residence

Bend, Oregon

completed 2016

3,200 sq ft

Project Description

When our clients decided to build a custom home they asked Ascent to create a space they could enjoy now, but which would allow them to “age in place” without extensive future remodels. From design concepts through construction administration and interior design, we helped make their vision a reality. The resulting contemporary home reflects their artistic taste in an inviting atmosphere. The single-story home includes a master suite, guest suite, and living space, each with direct access to a private courtyard that was designed to allow for indoor/outdoor living. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in natural light, and a large open kitchen amidst the open floor plan means the couple can enjoy a meal with each other or entertain a group. To accommodate their desire to “age in place,” we designed wider doorways and more spacious bathrooms that allow for accessibility without detracting from the overall aesthetic.

Kitchen View

Large counter tops are a chef’s dream, and create an intimate dining space for the couple to enjoy a meal together.

Private Courtyard

The home was designed around the courtyard to create a private outdoor living space that is accessible by several rooms in the house.

Spa-like Bathrooms Designed With the Future in Mind

We wanted to fulfill the owners’ desire to “age in place” without detracting from the overall aesthetic. The bathrooms highlight that balance, with their spa-like style blended with oversize doors and spacious bathroom layout.

Entryway

The house was designed to showcase the owners’ artistic style while still creating a homey feel.
