Project Description

When a repeat client decided to build a ground-up independent senior living project in northeast Bend, Ascent got to work on architectural design and documentation. Our team developed a design for three buildings surrounding a central park-like courtyard. The buildings range from two to four stories, include studio apartments and one- and two-bedroom units, and include features such as a commercial kitchen, dining space, game rooms, activity space, yoga studio, administrative offices, a large roof deck, and storage units available for residents to rent. Outdoor amenities include community planting beds, walking paths, patios, and courtyards. We worked closely with the city to get height allowances for the buildings by proving that they don’t negatively impact surrounding neighborhoods and also protect the atmosphere of the facility from nearby busy roads and future road expansions.

Landscape Plan

The central feature of the site plan is a 2 acre landscaped courtyard completed with water feature, bocci court, BBQ grill, fire pit and outdoor dining patios. (Image credit SZABO Landscape Architecture)

Contemporary Design

Recessed balconies with glazed openings to the units, use of materials such as reveal panel sizing and building forms give the buildings a contemporary appearance.
